Who remembers the town of Chain of Ponds?

Was driving up through the hills past Millbrook Reservoir recently when I mentioned to the missus that there used to be a town there where I would go as a kid.

She never knew it was there.

Not sure I could speak to anyone involved with them in a civil tone at present.

Dropped the 'consumer affairs' line the the latest email. See what that does.

My wife gets sick of me telling her that snippet of local history.

It's not there anymore? Shows how long since I've been around that way.

The only just demolished it 35-40 years ago FC ...

There was also a nearby township called Millbrook, but it was demolished to make way for the Millbrook Reservoir, which was constructed between 1914 and 1918 to control the flow of the upper Torrens River and supply the eastern suburbs of Adelaide from an appropriate elevation. In the 1970s, Chain of Ponds was also demolished to safeguard against water pollution in the reservoir.[2]

Little more than a cemetery exists as a reminder of Chain of Ponds, though it appears on maps as a navigation point.

I used to ride my bike up through Modbury to Chain of Ponds and then back to town via Gorge Rd with school friends when I was in mid mid-teens at Woodville High. It was a nice little town and I can think of other places I'd have preferred to see go under.

Success! Partially..... The managing director has just called me and promised me that stock is arriving next week and he would be following it up that it is expressed posted to me at no cost.
