I did hear a while back that Toyota were looking to get into it too with a couple of other car makers.

I think the rules state nowdays that the car must be produced in Australia and have a V8 variant for the public to buy to be eligble.

the idea has some good points but if it was to happen i would like to see the newcomers cut their teeth in Konica series or what ever its called these days

Holden and Ford both have 4 Cylinder ranges, there is no reason why they cant sell performance V8's as well, car enthusists will continue to buy them regardless of fuel, hell im looking at getting a 6.0L V8 within the next 3-6 months.

Yeah I'm with you brother. These ford freaks give me the shits too.
The only decent ford ever made was the XYGT and even then that got flogged at Bathurst by a 6cyl holden, yes the mighty XU1 TORANA.
The BA falcon was always going to better than that pile of crap AU but then again Ford have had a history of producing quality cars.....hahaha the EA and EB models were a disgrace and if my memory serves me correctly they ran with the old 250 motor with a carb...hahahahha....blue oval sucks big time, I'd rather drive an old EH holden than drive a BA bucket of crap!

Fords only doing well in the V8s because of the Project Blueprint, or whatever that crap was called, where they made the Holdens and Fords share a lot of the same components to make the cars more even. See how they would be going with their own parts on the car. Ford were complaining that the Holden engine was more powerful and that the aerodynamics on the Holden were more effective. Who's fault it that? Not Holdens.

the V8's count for nothing in terms of what brands better, its pretty much just the shell and the badge that is the diffrence, they are pretty much all the same underneath.
have had a bit of a look @ the VE SSV, i should be going to Holden Open Day this sunday, which is once every 8 years, so i should get some more details on it and a better look @ it to, have a test drive in one coming up to. :D

Sorry Wedgie, I didn't say they were better, I said Ford and GMH may be in trouble because neither produces a LOCALLY MANUFACTURED vehicle of this type. The Commo and the Falcoon are both pretty reasonable cars but about as exciting as microwave ovens or washing machines. At least someone has finally admitted that the V8 supercars pretty much only differ by body shell, so whether a Ford or a Holden wins is pretty meaningless. The driver and the preparation by the team are the critical factors.

Sorry mate, my mistake I could have sworn you told us 4 cylinders like Toyota building was the way to go.

Mate, you only have to look at the crowds now as opposed to when there were plastic machines racing to see which way was the smart way to go.
They want to make money not lose it.

Mind you I do agree smaller cars would probably suit 90% of the population, ie shrimps less than 6 foots.
It should only be tall people or people with a lot of towing needs that require a Falcon (or the last 2 model Commodore).

Its an injustice that there's not more concept cars on the road or at the very more diesel cars.

Also might have been a huge seller if Holden had gone ahead with a Torana like they did a Monaro as a result of a concept car. Would have been a huge seller IMHO and I reckon the market's there for the taking.
