Had a few pints of the Carlton Black on tap at my local,($3.50),so the content is down a bit but the taste is a lot heavier, quite enjoyed it.Look for it at a hotel near YOU!

Its like a wine discussion. We can help each other find new lagers.

Beer is and always will be better than any wine though.

It is especially better than my wifes whine!

I hate wine. Last time I drank wine I mixed it with beer to make it taste better.

A day or two ago I was talking with a bloke who is regularly on wine tasting panels for events like the Sydney Show.

As he put it "You taste 2000 wines over a few days, you spit every bloody one out, at the end your mouth is raw and all you want is a beer".

Finances have forced me to venture into Tasman Bitter teritory, and I must say,for a full strength under $30 and 375ml stubbies, its not to bad.Mostly like a Melbourne bitter, but a little better.

OK, lets start with beers i miss

West End Export(Lager) bloody beautiful, none of the dog turd aftertaste that other West End stuff brings on after a few hours, the bitter they changed it to was crap!!!

Eagle Bitter-They had it right here too, think it went downhill after the lezzos cracked it at the ad for it

Tooheys Classic Bitter-Smoothest bitter i ever had, New is OK, this stuff was awesome.

Hahn Ice(5.2%)-Not the crap 4.5% stuff they do now, bit of battery acid to it but not bad.

Hahn Longbrew-This stuff was nice, another clean tasting beer that somehow bit the dust

Carlton Diamond Draft-high powered sugar water!!! that i liked anyway!

Stuff I like now

Southwark Bitter-The premium doesnt do it for me like this stuff does

VB-Still go back to it now and then

MB-Prob should drop VB for good and hit this once in a while

XXXX-I've been in Queensland for a month and a 1/2 after all!!!!, dunno about getting it back down South, it seems to go foxy there.

West End Draught-Has to be fresh, i think the bottles at some bars might be a little old, better in the glass for me, Nasty in a can unless its near frozen.

Tooheys New-Actually pretty good, better than the old Red but behind the old Classic

Coopers(any) No Complaints with any of them, even like the Draught, very interested in having a go at the Lager.

Avoid!!!

Crownies(unless they're free!!!)-An old housemate in Melbourne who got a job at CUB said "Dont buy them, not worth the money"

ALDI supermarket beer-too watery

Fosters Lager-sometimes i go back and have a taste, and then wonder how did we con Euros and Yanks into drinking this stuff, borderline acceptable if theres nothing else about.

Tried the "Mallee Bull" by the Mildura Brewery and I reckon it's alright even though it wouldn't be to everyones taste and at the moment, it's pretty expensive.
5.6% in a 330ml bottle.

While I think of it, I fell in love with "Lizard Larger" on tap at the Top End Hotel in Darwin, tasted similar to the West End 107 Pilsner I used to love but even better.
Sweet but very smooth and like all beer in Darwin, very cheap, about $3.90 a pint by memory.

Must Agre, tried this one, along with most of the others they make, VERY NICE. Though your average VB, Westend drinker probably wouldn't like it.

Recently tried Coopers Lager and enjoyed most similar to a Crowny.

Recently tried Boags St George and thought it was a citrussy version of Tooheys extra dry and similar to Corona.
