Inglewood Inn

Third visit here in the past 12 months or so (in-laws seem to enjoy it). All three visits have been fairly consistent:

Food- Decent enough but overpriced for what it is. Pizzas are probably the best option.
Service- Friendly but slow/inattentive
Atmosphere- Modern setting/nice views if on deck.

6/10.

Gawler Palace Chinese Restaurant

I took my mother there on Saturday night and I thought the food was very nice and the service was outstanding. We got honey chicken, king prawns with cashews, fried rice and a serving of steamed dim sims. I got some Blue Lagoon cocktail (very nice), mum a glass of wine and afterwards an Irish coffee each. The irish coffee had way too much whiskey in it when really should only be a hint but everything else was great. Even got a slight discount on the bill.

Very much recommended and I'll be going there again.

I've found the service to be a little better, in some instances.

Get these cheap skates their meals, get them in and out and get some full paying folks in is the feeling I get, if you let them know you have a voucher. I don't usually alert them until I'm at the register to pay though.

On a side note, we have a (3) Scoopon for a Thai restaurant on Port Road. We've used one before, $40 for two courses, a beer or wine for two people. Food was great, service was good, nice little place we thought we'd try again. This time I purchased 3 sets, so 6 of us are going.

The Scoopon expired March 1, we tried calling every other day from February 15 to get in "Sorry, we busy, fully booked that night", when I've tried to book. Even had "Oh, maybe next Wednesday you try again?".

Each time I have asked for an assurance that we can use the voucher after March 1 as they have been "we busy". So, last night I finally managed to secure a booking for this Friday night, with the assurance I can use the vouchers. We, will, see.

Firstly, thank you to the Mango Tree on Port Road for honoring our expired Scoopons.

Secondly, I can highly recommend the place.

Authentic Thai food prepared in pleasant surroundings. The service wasn't super ( one of the young girls still had her school uniform skirt and shoes on ) but adequate, the food, though....the food! Sensational.

I had a dim sim/ spring roll looking item for entree, chicken and prawn mince inside crispy balls of pastry with a wonderful lemon based dipping sauce. Yum!

A not so traditional lamb rack in a mild curry for mains with potatoes and cashews, awesome! 4 lamb medallions and a good 6-10 baby spuds in a spicy yet not over powering curry. ( I'm not a big lover of hot, hot curry )

The two courses with a glass of wine each for $40 per couple was good value and I'll keep an eye on Scoopon for the deal again.

In the last week or two

Hilton Hotel - 25% off group booking. Schnitzel Chicken Kilpatrick served on a stupidly large plate. Solid but not spectacular, sauce was too runny. 8/10

Maid and Magpie - 2 for 1. Porterhouse beef schnitzel with mushroom. Pack of loud obnoxious dickheads on a nearby table probably didn't help the experience and meals were quite pricey. 7/10

IKEA - Hot Dog and a Coke for $2. Had to see the hype after multiple snapchats from Carey going back. Worth every cent. When considering the humorous price and free refills 8.5/10

Tonight....
KTH for presentation night
Tomorrow....
Intercontinental for a wedding
Sunday.....
Bay bar and Bistro for Family Day

Kent Town Hotel

We had between 30-50 of us dining at our club function and the meals were excellent.

Schnitzels were enormous, steak was well cooked, Sliders were damn tasty and there were no complaints about any of the meals. Prices were reasonable and on par, setting was good and service seemed much improved.

Definitely worth a visit for fans of schnitzel who are of a larger girth. Both Parmis and Kilpatrick sauces were spot on.

9/10

Reynella Scout Group 2016 Australian Scout Jamboree fundraising BBQ at Hallet Cove Mitre 10

Good selection of BBQ products:

Bacon and Egg Sangas
Sausage and onion
Range of Schweppes softies
Sauces available: tomato, BBQ and mustard

Good to note the chocolate fundraising box if you wanted sweets (I deferred)

Went for the sausage and onion in a piece of bread.

Sausage cooked well and wasn't too hot so could enjoy straight away. Bread nice and soft thought the onions were a little under-cooked though.

7/10 would go back again (which could be today as I usually forget something when getting stuff for home handy jobs when I visit Mitre 10/Bunnings)....

I know it's not a proper restaurant but the Swedish meatballs with gravy, jam and chips at Ikea are good.

Pretty much everything else they sell bar the meatballs not so much.

Had dinner at a Pub in Birdwood on the weekend, not being familiar with the town I don't know if there's more than one pub?? (it was on the way in to town coming from Inglewood)

Anyhoo, I didn't expect a heap but the food was bloody beautiful .. My old man and his partner also ate there the night before and raved about their meals. Highly recommend the place.

We went to Café Primo at Golden Grove last night for our anniversary. Before anyone barks at me, we had to take the kids and one of them has been quite crook, so I sacrificed eating somewhere special with the missus for somewhere local with the family.

I had the yiros pizza, missus had prawn seafood, boy had salt and pepper squid and girl had the chicken nuggets.

All fantastic.

Gelati afterwards was sensational and the pancakes that came free with the kids meals were pretty good too.

I had mars bar cheesecake which worked against my weight loss recently but we all ate up well and I thought it was good value for money.

8/10.

Some people knock it - but I've never had a bad meal at Primo's.

Also a fan of the brekky buffet on weekends.
