My Audi S2 is 17 years old and in good nick, except the clutch just went - at 165,000 km.
I intend to fix it and keep it - but it is a special case.

I used to turn over my business cars about every 4 years in the days when I was able to 100% deduct them and was paying a high tax rate.

My first three cars were Holdens - second hand FJ, HR premier, HK 327 Monaro.
Isn't that enough?

It's a similar story on Facebook, with d**kheads asking people to like or 'rate' their photos. They also do it for an inbox reply too.

Buy them with about 20k on the clock and still under warranty, and then dispose of them at end of warranty and buy another nearly new car. Means you're only forking out an extra couple of grand each time instead of an extra $10k+

Spot on FC I have been doing that for years and has saved me heaps I made sure that each car I bought had a five year warranty and this extended the time between change overs.
Although now in my old age I have bought a couple of cars (second hand) I plan to keep for a while.

What I have found with facebook is that it is the perfect medium for people to attempt to interact with other people, when in the normal walk of life they would have no chance, mainly because they are the person who "doesn't fit in", they "look different" or are a bit slow, or even extremely withdrawn. One friend of mine is always posting quotes, very rarely writes his own messages & it's because he doesn't know how to express himself personally. For these people, facebook is a life-saver. They have absolutely no self-esteem or self-confidence. so for these people to ask what others think of them over the internet (because they haven't met in person) by way of a little questionnaire is their way of asking for a bit of attention, respect &/or acceptance.
The people that shit me are the women that go online & moan about everything, then finish their bleat with FML. They have no idea what constitutes a hard life. I delete these bores.

I agree with you wholeheartedly there. Despite the negative effects social media has on some, it does provide an opportunity for those who feel they cannot express themselves or be understood to be heard in a somewhat safe medium. I'd know, I've always been an outsider who struggles to relate to people or even make friends. I'm a lot more shy than a lot of people realise, even my family have no clue.
