Under Howard? Sure, there was still some element of a "party" when he was in power ( ie - individuals working together for the good of all ) but the factions are so clear and divided now the "party" is so divided, you get who half the party want to run the show, running the show. Gillard / Rudd....
I know there have always been factions in each party, but they (IMO) are further apart than ever before.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
