I was honestly distraught at the thought of losing the bloke, he is a bit like a son to me, we just got on really well. I would never stand in his/anyone's way of getting ahead in life

It's illegal to give a bad reference, typically when someone moves on from here who we aren't going to miss and I get asked I usually give them the "I'd rather not comment" when asked about work ethic, punctuality etc. That says more than enough we think.

Also reflects poorly on the company giving a bad reference about an employee, "if he is that bad why would you keep them" would be my first question

I drive past the Grand Junction Rd/Hanson Rd intersection every morniing, and there's usually at least one "lady of the night" putting in some OT near the petrol station.

(pause for jokes about me picking up hookers)

So anyway. This morning I was just thinking, how does the law work? Is it only illegal if they get caught with a mouthful? Or is it illegal for them to be out there, obviously advertising their goods?

I guess they stay that close to the police station for some sort of security. But wouldn't that increase their chances of being caught?

Anyway....that's what I think about on the drive to work.

I believe it's illegal for them to solicit a trick, but standing on the corner waiting for a car to pull up is ok. It's the act of making a contract with the customer is what will ping them (I've clearly watched too much 'Cops')

They're not very discreet. The "young" lady was wearing a bright (faded) pink tracksuit, and Uggies. She was about 200m from the police station.

Every cop that left the station would've had to pass her.

I once pulled into the snack bar across from the West Croydon Football Club and one came over to me and said "Hey, you want a blowie for $10?"

I said "Sorry, I've only got 5 and I'm f***ing hungry"

A dude that I used to work with years ago got caught picking one up, his wife found out too, it was hilarious as I used to go to school with his wife and she was a nasty piece of work.

The only time I've been propositioned was on Hindley St when I was 15ish. Me and a mate went to see I Killed The Prom Queen at Enigma back in about 2003/04, and in between bands we walked up to Maccas.

One lovely lady popped out of a side street with pamphlets and asked us if we wanted her to show us a thing or two. I told her how old I was (I looked 12 too) and she wasn't phased in the least. She even offered freebies.

Looking back, I should've at least accepted a blowie. :(
