Business Directory.

I don't know if this has been tried before but I think that it might be beneficial to a lot of people if we can set up a business directory & save it on this site, so if you have a service to offer (a genuine service, that is), then you may wish to register your business name, contact details & what you can offer. It can be listed alphabetically, eg: arborists, balloon sellers, curtains, dog washers etc., etc. Thoughts, anyone?

My only concern is businesses getting a free plug on a site where (I think) the admin are paying for some of the costs out of their own pocket - and certainly not getting a return for lots of volunteer hours.

Maybe its better to pay a nominal advertising fee to the admin for the free exposure?

I'm not sure about some posters gaining $ through using this particular site for free advertising.

But I can't speak for the site admin!

or every business that is registered on this site can offer a small donation when a service is performed via this site.

I have moved this to this site because more people are on the SANFL site & I want to see what everyone thinks.

Nice idea...unfortunately I don't think I have much to offer (shut-up the rest of you  ). However, if you want to take this idea a step further you might like to take a look at this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LETS

Once saw a documentary on a town running a LETS scheme and it looked like a great idea.

the reason that I would like to do it through this channel is so that safooty.net can make some money from it to assist them in the running of the forum.

Then there is the problem of having to reveal our real identities to do business after revealing aspects of ourselves we would not normally do if we expected to be identified behind our masks and avatars!.

Then you would choose not to be involved, Psyber.

Others may choose to. Personally I wouldn't put myself up there but I would most certainly utilise the services of an SA Footy member where practical.

If I was to say I could help with a certain product range, yet not disclose company name or location, yet invite people to pm me with any questions, that could keep your identity a secret Psyber.

It doesn't really matter as I am in Victoria anyway, and in a highly specialised field, but I thought it was worth raising as a general consideration.

Lots on here have plenty to offer, drinking expertise, slandering, the list could go on and then just think, there are those that could actually offer something useful, like anyone out there into paving, I need my pavers relaid around the pool, for a reasonable price of course.

Sorry mate don't do any work like that under 50 grand, but seriously I am looking for someone decent that does do paving work, had no luck last year asking on the Roost or other forums. Might be time for the yellow pages
