Rushby's first theory = Distance from Glenelg

In my job I spend a lot of time talking to people from interstate, often chat about the suburb/city they live.
A typical conversation, if they ask me where I live in Adelaide would be:
Me "Have you ever been to Adelaide?"
Them "yes, visited there once about 10 years ago" (everyone has been here once...)
Me" Did you visit Glenelg" or "Do you know where Glenelg is?"
Them, 98% yes to either of those
Me"ok, i live about 20 minutes South down the coast from there"
Gets them every time.
Talking to a few other Adelaide people, many of them do the same thing as well
"I live 5 minutes from Glenelg, South east" etc.
Is every Suburb in Adelaide rated in its distance from the Bay?
