Father christmas VS Santa

Postby bazza1 » Wed Dec 26, 2007 7:56 pm

When i was growing up it was always Father Christmas, but now more and more kids are refering to FC as SANTA, its an outrage. Lets stop this Americanism and get back to the aussie tradition of FATHER CHRISTMAS. I have 2 kids and never refer to him as Santa!

well i say fc for little bayman & because i do that his stupid mother has to say sc just to be different  , but lets face it, it has to be fc because santa claus is a town in america, they've already started with halloween over here & i'm waiting for the day 'we' celebrate july 4th (apart from those with birthdays on that date)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

It was always Father Christmas to me.

Its only a personal thing but I always think of Santa as the one with the red hat and Father Christmas as the more traditional figure (he's in the pagent) with the laurel of some sort in his hair instead.

When I was a kid it was both Father Christmas and St. Nicholas. Not only because of a strict Catholic upbringing (long since abondoned) but because he is St Nicholas in the classic poem 'A Visit from St Nicholas' or more often called 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'. Only foreign friends of my parents called him Santa Claus.

I'm wondering if his elves up there in the North Pole are under Howard's 'Workchoices'...
What they need is Rudolph the 'Red Flag' Reindeer to stir up the pot & make the poor little buggers
drop their tools for better working conditions!

Father Christmas would win six out of ten matches,
but I'd favour Santa easily in a steel cage match.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.
