Trash journalism at its best, I honestly don't know how the scum journos and photographers that camp out or hunt him down can live with themselves.
Im far from a David Hicks sympathiser but the way the Advertiser is hounding him is pathetic.

Agree with all on here. Just pathetic the way the media is milking this for all they can. As with Wedgie i am no sympathiser but FFS i don't care if some no life journo from the Advertiser has managed to stake out a house that may or may not be where David Hicks is staying.

I agree, for all I care Hicks can rot in hell as long as he takes the gutter journalists with him.

The Advertiser is clearly pissed off with Hicks.

As the newspaper in his home town they believe they should be getting a dividend for all the coverage given to Terry Hicks over the past 6 years - ie the exclusive first interview, and free.

There is a massive bidding war under way - as there was for the first (current) picture of him. The latter was negated when he agreed to have his photo taken by the media at his release, against his own personal wishes not to.

By hounding him the Advertiser hopes he will give in. They really got annoyed when their front page the day before his release went with the headline that Hicks was going to apologise, and then his statement did not do so - much to their embarrassment after the story got national coverage. However, he did agree to have his photo taken and no doubt in return had hoped for some space from the media in the interim until the gag order expires.

It was only when he failed to apologise that this all started - complaints about police protection at his release, chasing bali survivors for comments, etc etc. Its all about building the pressure up to a point where he gives in and gives the interview they all crave.

BTW - did Chopper Read ever apologise at his release? Has he profitted from his crimes, proven beyond reasonable doubt in a properly constituted Court?

Contrition is something to be recognised via a judge's discretionary powers during sentencing. Maybe that happened with Hicks?

The whole thing is a vindictive pursuit by the Advertiser.

If the journo had any integrity they'd tell the editor to stick it.
Mind you, journalism and integrity aren't two words too often used in the same sentence.

Ive never had any time for the Hick's (moreso Terry than David) but I'm fast becoming a Hicks sympathiser for the first time in my life because of the way our sham of a paper is treating him.

Jesus ladies, before the Fairfax golden child was released ''Father of the decade'' Terry, Friends of the ABC & a variety of Natashias were steamrolling up & down the corridors of the tiser screaming for all the publicity for their street theatre they could get. As Squawk said, they just want a return for the gallons of ink wasted on this tripe now that the self same supporters are crying blue murder for any intrusion whatsoever.
I did like the lady from Burnside who was terrified that Bin Hicksy was gunna move next door in the letter section, like as if his lawyer would even let his daughters pony stables to the bogan circus.

Yeah, well I was critical of the paper with that father of the year crap and the coverage of the Hicks case.
Two wrongs certainly dont make a right in my book.
Its all crap IMHO especally the way they champion his cause and then try to hound him into breaking a gag order.
Anyway, looks like the Advertiser might be getting the message as thee wasnt a pic of him in the paper today, thank christ.

Sorry guys but I have to disagree. I can't stand him and what he believes in. I think he deserves everything he gets.

I think you've missed the point, you enjoy the daily update on which street he's walking down, what clothes he's wearing and what his latest hairstyle is. I would have thought if you can't stand him that'd be the last thing you'd want to read about.

I don't actually read the articles. I'm just glad he's being hounded like a dog and given no personal space.

I haven't read (brought a) tiser in paper form for a few years now but FWIW Hicks has given may ppl divided views and at present I am sitting on the fence after many arguments with neighbour about our thoughts. I was against him in jail in Guacamole Bay (however its spelt- spell check chose this spelling) but thought 9 months in Yatala was a bit soft. I am sick of seeing him on TV though and hope that he never makes a cent from any interviews ever and that he will always have police watching his movements.
