Why do they still insist on not being able to use mobiles in hospitals or at petrol stations?
I thought the myth that the affected machinery was busted many moons ago.
Also if someone was to have their phone on in a ward by themselves and use it for internet browsing is there any way they could be sprung when the phone looks more like a PDA?

My daughter spent a night in hospital (W & C) last week, and I called my wife every hour for updates as I looked after my
other two kids at home. No-one said anything to her...
When I went in, I used it to call Nanna & Pa, and nothing said, so I'm sure if it was a problem someone would have said something....

I believe you can use them in wards but not in Intensive care areas or around x-ray/MRI sections.
As for petrol stations the vapour has too be very concentrated. For example the paintshop at Mitsi's would not be a good idea to let your phone remain on!!

Interesting and illogical, most of the doctors in the RAH carry Blackberries so they can access the computer system. The Blackberry is a phone I think as well.

The only thing I would say about having a mobile in a hospital is to turn the ring tone off. That would be polite.

Thanks for the info folks. Id be lost without my palm phone as there's noone else in the ward, there's no tv and all of the good looking nurses were in Emergency.
Currently downloading stuff off my pc using ORB, glad I left some Southpark episodes on it.
I just wish I could download some food from home.
And I have the headphones in so if it does ring only I can hear it.

I have been in Intensive care a few times.
Use your mobile.
It doesn't matter if it mucks up your life support readout machine.....
But I have been told off a few times.
If your on life support, does it matter...?
Do you care about the person laying a few beds away...?
