Do you remember....comedy classics

After indulging in the off topic banter about the Goons on one of the SANFL threads and JTC's suggestion for a 'Do you remember' thread I thought I might as well start one. Hopefully it will stop some threads going madly off topic as soon as someone posts a comedy quote....I'm as guilty as anyone else.

So post your favourite quotes, clips and memories of the comedy greats

To start it all off here's the Goons stuff....

Subject: Jars signs for 12 more months???

I'm not sure how old it needs to be to be a classic ;) but here's a few of my favourites :)

Family Ties
Growing Pains
Get Smart
Dave Allen Show
Wait Til Your Father Gets Home
The 2 Ronnies
Fantasy Island
Comedy Company
Fast Forward
The Flinstones

PLUS Saturday morning cartoons
The Hairbear Bunch
Shazzam
Top Cat

Don't think there would be an age limit for a classic.

As far as I'm concerned if people still quote lines from something it's a classic so I reckon most if not all of yours would qualify.

Here's another....and the young'uns wonder how we all managed to keep in touch before mobile phones and the internet

"Tell him he's dreaming" Actually I have seen it...fantastic film...loved it. It happened to be on tv here last year...I mentioned it to someone on the Legs forum who threatened violence if I didn't watch it

My biggest regret was not recording it as I don't think it's ever been available on dvd for our region and hasn't been on tv (terrestrial) since :( But I'll bide my time and keep scanning the tv listings...like everything else I'm sure it'll come around again and when it does I'll be ready.

How's the way Mrs Bp used to answer the phone, always with the Omo (I think) spiel in case it was the competition call.

Thel ends the phone call with "......do I win the Womens' Weekly round the world trip of my dreams?"

I love the show so much, that mum & dad bought me my own Neville!

Dad's favourite line from the show is "I love my chair".

I often use the line of "we were so poor, when I went to school I had to keep a sheep in each pocket, just to keep my hands warm", but not many people understand where it comes from.

Queue Tedbullpit....

Dare we, these days, mention "Neville" in the context of Kingswood Country?
I remember the relevant MP with considerable respect.

Very different times hey Psyber.

What was that British comedy that always referred to the 'Sambo next door'?
I reckon Nig Nog might've been used too.

My mate has got the box set. We had a ritual of knocking off on Fridays and heading to his house to watch Kingswood Country while drinking Coopers Dark Ale.
That is comedy gold!

Kingswood Country was a classic :D

Was interesting when the cast was on WHERE ARE THEY NOW a few years ago, the body language from Ross Higgins (Ted) and the actress who played his wife, indicated they didn't exactly want to be in the same room together, looked like they weren't exactly best friends.

I think thats why she left the show, didn't get on with Ross.

if you get the chance, watch The Dish, a good little Aussie movie made by the guys that made The Castle, one of my favourites

a couple of classic moments, when the band break into the theme from Hawaii Five O when the American ambassador walks in and it was supposed to be the National Anthem
and when the security guard Rudy thinks he is talking to Neil Armstrong on the moon on his walkie talkie

Way ahead of ya gdb :D

The Dish has been on tv here quite a few times now...another favourite.

Love the way that poor bugger in uniform is always trying to tap off with the mayors daughter...and the guy from 'Men in Black 2' who plays the Yank liaison guy who's baffled by the laid back Aussie culture.

How funny was the policeman...surprised they got away with some of his lines.

Always preferred Allo Allo to Dad's Army which gets endless repeats here.
