You think? I've not played Royal Adelaide but having walked most of it that looks to be a ripping course.

I’d play rather play Glenelg than Royal Adelaide, I think it’s overrated.
You’ll love Kooey.

I've played Kooey a couple of times (as well as many hours of a misspent youth running around there ;) ) but I'd like to play RA, just the layout appeals.

I've been watching that "8 out of 10 cats does countdown" religiously at night lately.. cracks me up.. and I know it's been mentioned on here before but Rachel Riley is enjoyable to watch. Also find Jimmy Carr's laugh to be infectious.

Agreed re Kooyonga, far and away the best golf course in SA.

I'd also second playing Glenelg in front of Royal Adelaide. Don't get me wrong, RA is a good track, but I'd also say, so long as you can hit the ball straight for the first 75-100 metres to clear the trees lining each side of the tee's, you can kind of hit it anywhere you like after that. So control a slice or a hook enough, get through the "shoot" of trees you can be on the next fairway, and still make par. The par 3's at RA, are fantastic holes though, it must be said.

Been lucky enough to play Koey reasonably regularly over the years, but never played Glenelg or RA. Tried to sneak onto Glenelg on xmas day back in the 90's but got caught

Koey front 9 is brilliant, so many varied holes, each with their own character, the back 9 gets a bit up and back IMO. The 8th hole at Koey would have to be one of the toughest holes in Australia, horrendous green to try and hit.

Lot of water out there, be interested to hear what safety devices they have on board.

My old man has had a boat as long as I've been alive, he is stringent when it comes to flares, radios and in modern times EPIRB's, if they didn't have all of these on board that boat, traversing those waters, they are mad.

Only just purchased the boat so maybe the original owner took that sort of equipment out?

Yeah you wonder when it will come compulsory for any boat travelling a certain distance to have satellite tracking of some sort, can't imagine the cost of this type search.

Potentially, but again, that boat, that route, you'd be mad not to be fully equipped with a working radio and EPIRB.

You activate the EPIRB when things go to shit, the ping to the satellite is accurate within 3m of your location, they clearly didn't have one.

Agree, I’ve been out in those seas off Port Lincoln and it’s very easy to run into trouble. Just carrying enough fuel to battle the seas can be tricky

Such an old wooden boat to battle through those seas that far

Not compulsory to have one though is it? Personal choice to carry it I guess?

Out there, yes, legal requirement.

All vessels regardless of length, that are in unprotected waters more than three nautical miles from shore, except in Lakes Alexandrina and Albert, or more than five nautical miles from shore in Gulf of St Vincent or Spencer Gulf must carry:

one EPIRB (emergency distress beacon)
one V distress sheet.
