Sounds like Windy Point Restaurant.

Wonderful place for a meal.

Alternatives are Magill Estate or Mt Lofty Summit.

I haven't been to Sammys for a long time so I hope it's improved, but when I went there many years ago, the platter we got was nothing we couldn't have purchased at Barnacle Bills (ok, the seafood would have been better quality, but all crumbed, deep fried and with a bootload of chips).

Was pretty disappointed.

Johno - Depends what you're looking for by romantic - Secluded spot? Scenery? Intimacy (less patrons) etc?

id prefer less patrons... but its our 2 year anniversary.. so i wanna try make it as romantic as i can.
so ive crossed off maccas, kfc etc...
and we've driven past that windy point a couple of times and thought its be good, and i wanna go somewhere we havent been before..

i wouldnt mind somewhere with a bit of a drive also, just so it wastes more time i guess haha

Romantic and intimate.... Ambrosini's on Magill Rd is my personal recommendation. Northern Italian cuisine is something you won't have too often either, although I'd skip the chicken liver and lamb's brain.

If thats the place Im thinking off from about 10 years ago, good call.

I've never been to Windy Point, but I know it used to be the "in" place among the lads in the 90's, and usually helped them get "in"

Used to go there a lot when I was at uni. Fantastic spot.

I had lunch at this fantastic Greek restaurant on Gouger Street last Christmas - was good food, good serves, good prices. Can't remember what it's called though!

Mt Lofty lookout is pretty good, especially at night.

I have only been to Windy Point once (a few years ago) but it was one of the best restaurant meals/experiences I have had.

She'll think you're going to propose!

The best part about a long-term relationship is that eventually Caffe Primo becomes OK for nice lunch out (cheaper  )

it was better when everything was 8.90 or 9.90
now its all individually priced it sucks...

usually it dont matter were we go but i figured i better put in an effort..
she is very picky with food tho, only eats chick, chicken snitzel or pasta.

Windy Point has really improved over the past few years and is now superb,

The Manse at North Adelaide is wonderful, but both of these are pricey.

For intimate dining, Soho's at Melbourne Street, North Adelaide, is reasonably priced and has mainly private 'booths'. Food's great.

Another to consider is Red Ochre on the Torrens Lake at the Par 3 Golf Course. Very good.

You might struggle to get that at Windy Point. It's been a few years since I last went there but I don't think schnitters were on the menu. However, I think the place was split in two, there was a cafe and then the restaurant so if you go there for lunch you might still be alright.

A guy at Kilburn once took his missus to the Empire Hotel on Prospect Rd for their anniversary. Didn't tell us whether he used the vouchers from the back of the Messenger though.
