Fat people in Canada whose butts cannot be squeezed into a single airplane seat can now travel in the comfort of two seats while paying for only one.
This may be good for the obese, it can also be good for the people sitting next to them who otherwise find their own seats half swallowed by the excess body mass. But I would have thought that they ate themselves into the two seater position, if they can afford that amount of food then they should pay for the shopping trolley to carry it all around.

Can a tall person have the seat in front removed to provide more leg room?

I think since Ive lost over 20kgs in the last 6y months I should be able to take 20kgs more of luggage!

Yeah, but I bet the fatties don't go for it: paying for one seat = getting only one meal.

Personally, I reckon that's a bit cheeky. The overweight invididuals of this world are sick of being the butt of everyone's jokes. Just because they are fat should they continue to suffer the endless wise cracks?

It's their fault they're over weight (unless they have a medical condition) so why should they be given the extra privilege of an extra seat?

Exactly, they get rewarded for not looking after themselves and being a burdan to society, where people like me who have ultra long legs have to put up with the cramped space allocated.
Perhaps if I grew fat feet I might have a case?

The momentum has turned REB. There are more fat people than small people now as the vast majority have accepted that growing a fat arse is now normal. Those of us that haven't bought into that have less and less space to walk down the street let alone sit on public transport where the fat can comfortably take up 3/4 of a seat.

If they can't fit on a seat on the plane, they should pay for two seats not get one for free.

Agreed, as someone who flies regularly there is nothing worse than a massive (and often stinking) unit sitting next to you...

They have a bag size template at the gates, maybe they should have a pre-seat at the gates too...Imagine the sign- "If you cant sit in this seat, its gonna cost you, fat bastard"

No but most of the major airlines have seats with extra leg room for very tall people or the disabled but you will pay extra for them. My mate is 6' 2" and she looked into it for long haul flights.

I agree with MK...they should pay for 2 seats. Sorry to any of you who are obese I don't mean any offence but I think there are actually very few who's weight problem is because of a medical condition...I mean the excuse that it's glandular etc not just over eating.

As a single traveller I have to pay for 2 when I book a hotel room...it's called a single supplement and is applied regardless of the room size...because here you book rooms per person and not per room. I long for the US system of paying per room regardless of whether there is one person in there or two.

I tend to occupy a little more than one airline seat, not due to obesity, but because I'm about 35mm wider in the shoulders than the usual economy seat. The only way to fit is to sit with your shoulders hunched forward and your elbows in front of you, which is unsustainable for long.

As someone who acknowledges they are overweight I challenge even someone who is less than avergae build to tell me airline economy seating is adequate.

If you are over 6' or 90kg's I would suggest you and your fellow travellers will not be 100% comfortable.

If you are obese enough to require 2 seats I agree with all the above,you should pay for it.

I think there is a special breed of midget architect that does airline and theatre seat design.

And sports stadium seating. I'm average height and build (5 10 & 80 odd kg), and I completely fill the space allocated to one person.

I am 6 foot 6 and 120Kg
I am very uncomfortable in all stadiums, all planes (although I ask for an exit row and get cross when they are all gone and then see 3 normal size people in the exit rows)
Then you have to dodge the overhead tv screens.
It is nice when an air hostess says mind your head, trust me it hurts
Went to a funeral yesterday and had my legs up behind my ears trying to fit in the seat

They even get shitty when I pay 30 bucks to pre book the exit row flying Virgin

I have to admit I feel terribly sorry for Mr MK who is tall when we fly. He just sits there quietly, not complaining, but I know it's not comfortable for him. Not being a good flier, he's more worried about getting there rather than how he feels doing it.
