More often than not, I will go by price, but there are two brands I will swear by.
Puma and Sony.

All other things being equal (i.e. same price, functionality, etc) I'll always go for the brand which is advertised by a bird with big knockers.

For electronic equipment, experience, or advice from good sources about reliability, is paramount, then price.
Clothing, quality and feel - natural fibres - then price.
Cars - Deutschland uber alles.

I always buy Asics running shoes. I bought my first pair about 8 years ago and have had about 8 pairs since then. I won't even look at any other brand when I buy a new pair, no matter what the price.

I only used to endorse Asics, however I was conned into buying a pair of new balance once and they were bloody great. Probably the best pair of shoes I ever bought.
Too bad they haven't bought out anything that good since.
I currently own asics again

There are several brands of shoes that suit the feet, not just Asics or Brooks.
All depends on what sort of foot you have.
I buy Asics runners, wear Nomis football boots.

That wouldn't be because ASICS throw a truck load of money at the Australian Podiatry Association would it???

My podiatrist recommended Nike Air Pegasus for my foot, Asics for my brother and New Balance for my father - no bias we assume.
I usually buy on price with most things, but there needs to be some quality control in there somewhere, usually ask friends/family for recommendations before larger purchases then make a start on the haggling.
