If you are sticking with the CBD the Ding Dong lounge (formally the International) is worth checking out. The stairs leading up have a mural which features a huge painting of a Black Flag album and Beasts of Bourbon album they also they have artists on there such as Spencer Jones and Rowland Howard regularly so it gives you some idea of what it's like.

Punters are generally easy going and friendly.
