Adelaide "uban myths/legends"

Was talking to a mate the other day about the supposed tunnel system under Adelaide and its suburbs, dating from the WW2 era. Despite this being fairly far fetched, it got me wondering about some of the other rumours/myths that have been around for so long that they are almost accepted as fact. Any ideas?

There is a tunnel system under a small part of Adelaide LBT
Under the Treasury building on Vic Square
It was used to transport money from the treasury to banks around the city

Yeah, they did tours of that one, i was referring more to the rumour that there was tunnels leading from King William Street all the way to the "foothills" presumably if adelaide was being bombed.

I read an article once that suggested there was an tunnel from the old cellars below the Lion Hotel in Melbourne St to the banks of the Torrens.

There is a cellar under the war memorial on North Terrace, The Advertiser once took a camera down into it on a wire and pretty much all they found was cobwebs!

If you want to see an interesting building in Adelaide go on the tour of the Freemasons Grand Lodge Hall on North Terrace - tour is on each Thursday - fascinating architecture!

That dates back to the days when The Old Lion boasted a brewery and the tunnels were used for cold storage in pre-electricity days.

I've heard FC once fed the starving throngs in Salisbury with one set of McDonalds vouchers.
