Lets hope all the CFS and SES and any other volunteers fighting this fire stay safe and hope they can get it under control asap.

With those winds and burning at only 2kms away from town.
That's very, very scary.

For those that don't know the area at all, It is burning in the area that was burnt in late Jan/early Feb 2001. However it is much closer to Port Lincoln and near the fish processing plants
Lets hope that the upper CFS management have learnt from their mistakes and prevent the horror of 2005

I really hope they can get it under control before they lose anymore, or worst still any lives.
The TV news says they have 5 aerial bombers there now (Did have 2 I believe) as well as CFS on the ground.
I just rang my husband, as he has staff in Port Lincoln.
Some work places over there have been evacuated.

It isn't sounding too good. Fingers crossed all the aerial support makes a difference and they can stop it before it hits the town or any more houses and as a mum said hopefully no lives are lost.

just spoke to my old man over that way and the Northerly's have dropped out that was pushing the fire away from Port Lincoln but towards Tulka. Now all they need is the wind to come the other way to push it back on itself to control it.

Hopefully it works out that way and mother nature can do its thing to help out.

Is it true a dog boarding place was burnt down? If so I hope all the animals got out safely.
If this was deliberately lit I hope he/she goes up in smoke in the most painful way known!!!!

Troy it looks like that first link is constantly being updated...yes a boarding kennels was hit ...
Sheds, boarding kennels, a local winery and two domestic homes were also destroyed.
No animals were killed in the boarding kennels fire - the four dogs that were staying there were safely removed to the town's RSPCA shelter.

No worries...sadly though there's a guy just been on 5aa and said he went to the kennels and there are some dead animals there but he didn't say if they were dogs so it could be wildlife that got caught (just as sad)...guess more will be known by tomorrow when it might be safer for people to check.
