Turns out it’s on the money but it’s good to see what others pay.
Well I crunched some rough numbers and got just over $20k. $19.5k is about right.

15k in materials and labour plus a builder's margin.

Ours is about $9,500 labour and $10k materials.
Sound about right for labour/builders margin?

Bond beam and coping done. Fence posts this week, paving next week/week after, fence after that.

"Hand over" of pool next Monday, cleaned, given the low down on the day to day by the pool tech. Should be done last week of October.

*bump*

Currently in the midst of having the house painted.

So far I have used Meo Services at Albert Park for some general demolition work and I cannot, I repeat I cannot, recommend them highly enough. I had a brick arch way above my roller door removed and a small brick wall on the return of the verandah. Good pricing, punctual, did the job in no time and cleaned up better than I could have hoped for. Absolutely recommend them.

Next up :

Stone Mason
Painter
Panel lift door

Want to shout out to some of the people we've had do renovations around out place and give them a plug :

Sean Wyatt Heritage Plastering :

We had some damp issues along with some repairs needed to our old porch, Sean is a craftsman and I highly recommend him if you have any rendering or plastering needing done.

Todd Fraser - Lasting Impressions Painting :

Couldn't be happier with the work Todd has done, he's meticulous in his preparation of surfaces ensuring the best possible finish and longest possible life time.

If you need contact details for either or, hit me up.

Can anyone give me their experiences with double-glazed windows and laminated glass windows.
Are they much-the-muchness in terms of keeping out or reducing heat, cold, harsh light and traffic noise? Or is one better than the other?
I've been told glazed windows are a prick to fix if they get smashed. Can you triple-strength either of these?

Thank you in advance.

Hey mate

I’m a glazier. Are you after new window frames or just glass replacement

Jump onto veridians website and check the u-value and the insulation capabilities of each type of glass

Lower the number, the better it is

Any Tilers on here? Wondering how much I should expect to pay to lay approx 25sqm. Tiles are for outside under cover area to be laid onto concrete in good condition. Tiles are 300 x 600.

Has anyone had much to do with wall cavity filling, specifically external walls to prevent noise, mainly traffic.

Is it worthwhile doing?
Which are the better products, what are some things to look out for?
What sort of $$ and can anyone recommend or otherwise a particular company.

Thank you in advance again.

Had a Merbau deck put in at my place about 14 months ago. It cops a fair bit of weather, both rain and Sun.

Was planning to strip it back and reseal it over the Melbourne cup weekend. It rained non stop, so it’s now my Christmas project.

Not done a huge amount of research, so if anyone has any experience in this type of thing, please post a reply.

So I’m thinking Boxing Day, get the Guerney out and give it a pressure clean. Dry during the first session at the MCG. Then at the lunch break, apply the deck clean gear and scrub. Let that dry overnight. Following day apply first coat of stain in the morning and then a second coat in the arvo. Forecast is 35 that day over here, so perfect. Day 3 another coat in the morning, then maybe head into the test match…

It’s not a huge area, so I think 3 days is ample. Then let that 3rd coat dry for 3 or 4 days before putting the BBQ, the Hawks barrel and the table and chairs back in place.
