Well its second hand but its new to me .just picked it up 2000 falcon ford forte with just over 87'000 k on the dial .
So happy my Old dual fuel 96 Falcon (had for almost 3 yrs) was just about gone.no more car on gas no more having to warm it up .no more trouble starting on a 4 degree morning yippeeeeeee

I haven't taken any pics just yet

This AU has been serviced regularly not driven much hence the 87'000 in 8 years.Not thrashed .
You haven't seen me at 5.55am in the mornings trying to start the 96.
Or at 3pm on a day 15 degrees or even 20 or lower getting it started.
And no more blowing the airfilter cover off by accident .Hell not to mention trying to screw the lpg pump onto the tank and the servo saying we know it doesn't fit we aren't getting it fixed!!!
Hell could have been worse Commodores get taken round these parts of Port Adelaide Enfield .

And bulldog you would have taken the AU at the price i got her for
And its an AU11 if that makes a differance
And I have a cd player and its a car in the 2000's yipeeeeee!!!!

Well done Micky,

I had an AU 1999 for 4 years 40k to 120k and only changed tyres and brakes mechanically great and used one tank of petrol from here to Melton in Melbourne. This was a big improvement on the 96. The only problem I had with it was the other half kept hitting things stobie poles, the house etc. so always being repaired.


I must be missing something with the posting of pictures instructions, I can not do it, any advice?

The main issue with the AU was its looks - it just didnt appeal to people. As far as a reliable car goes, its fine.

I had a 2000 AU Fairmont wagon for around 3 years. It was the best car i have ever had. Mind you, it did have a Tickford suspension pack, and was a 5 litre. It was a great car to drive, and never gave me any trouble.

And the Alternators go quite often
Design fault where the pwr steering fluid tank is positioned above the alternator, quite often these tanks crack/overflow straight onto the alternator regulator and fry it
If u look at the alternator Micky fair chance it wont be the original Ford one, if it has been changed you probably wont have this prob again as the tank would have been replaced with a different design one at the time

I use TINY PIC or Photobucket .I upload it to their websites

Congrats on the car Micky, i just bought a Commodore VY executive has only done 70,000 km. In near emmaculate condition, it used to be a lease car so came with all it's service history.
I paid $12000 through a mate who works at Grahame Cornes motors, he threw in a few extras like window tinting, car mats sn so forth. I don't know much at all about cars so i thought i would be safe going through a mate who shouldn't/hopefully wouldn't rip me off.

Thanks whufc.i know nothing about cars my dad was/is the petrol head of the family .
I just drove my new girl from Taperoo to Oval ave (stopped off at the tackle shop on old port rd on the way back ).Finally a car that doesn't shake and almost die when I stop .So damn nice to drive and the A/c works .not like the 96 one the A/C worked on the test drive didnt on the way home .

Its all good there a few things I need to do like dash mate seat covers and a really good clean of the trim .And perhaps the next service have then look at the handbrake (feels lose but could be me).
And I know the radiator is due for a flush out after another 15'000 k.

So its all good for me .

I take it everyone knows that the Falcon is shrinking over the years
My old EF 96 was huge in and out compared to the AU and the AU is huge compared to the latest Falcon .

guess its what you have been told or heard, being a holden fan i would rather go the VX commodore for that era if i had the choice for a car in the same year. Im only going by what i have been told by mechanics. Have a good mate whom is a mechanic and he said that the most problem prone car in recent years was the AU series falcon. Reason being when they got to a certain age or KMS the transmission packed in and had to be replaced. Not being biased because he said that the VN Commodore series was the worst for holdens as when the engine got to a certain age or KMS aswell it would have endless problems.
