I thought I might as well put up a pic of my current project car! I recently have completed the Mk3 Cortina project that I have been working on for the last two years or so and have been on the lookout for something else to get started on!

I found her on a property in Strathalbyn looking very much worse for wear, she is a 1960 Ford Zodiac Lowline, the Ford Zodiac is the upmarket model of the Ford Zephyr which were made in Dagenham, England and assembled in Geelong from knock down kits.

I was surprised to discover that the floor and chassis frames were rust free although most of the panels have varying degrees of rust, the engine runs, it is a 235 inline 6 different to the Aussie 250 used in the Falcon.

I love the fins on the back and the shape of the car in general makes me think that it is just what I am looking for!

I have every Street Machine mag since 1986 and it is my intention to keep the retro look but put a supercharged 289 or 302 under the bonnet along with some other bits and pieces I have in mind - hopefully we get that drag strip opened they keep talking about!

Anyway this is what I will be up to when the SANFL footy is on the radio out in my shed!

The Zodiac brings back memories as a young lad.

Didn't like it as much as the Holdens/Fords of the time though.

But as you get older, you realise, and appreciate Motoring History

While saying to yourself,

If only I was wise enough to gather some of this history as a young'n...

My dad bought a Standard 10 for my sister around this time.

There is a DVD series out at present called "Wrecks to Riches" where a guy called Barry White finds cars in wrecking yards and makes them absolute works of art being restored in his workshop, the cars are then sold at auction. What is interesting is that he makes them look retro on the outside yet often quite modern underneath, for any Chrysler / Mopar product sold in the U.S there is a gut that makes complete drop in replacement suspensions that are signficantly stronger yet lighter than the old ones.

Each to their own but if I had to choose between a $15 990 Hyundai Excell and a $15 990 Resto car Its a pretty easy choice for me!
