I don't know whether an original perk was no-ads (sounds right though), but it shits me off no end .. I reakon they have more ad's than free-to-air .. Surely given it's a paid for service they shouldn't have the need for ad's!!

Most of the shows are carp too nowadays, it's really only the sports that are worthwhile ..

IIRC there was a 5 year ad free period to protect the revenues of the free to air stations and give them time to adjust to a new player.I guess all bets are off now.

I have Foxtel IQ so can fast forward through the ads.
I couldn't live without my foxtel, nothing on normal TV interests me except for the SANFL and a few other occasional sports.
I download heaps too, they're great with no ads.

Foxtel never had no ads as such. Instead they had 3 or 4 station promos, advertising a show that was coming up during the week or whatever. The ads now dont bother me as they keep the monthly subscription price down. Foxtel digital wouldn't be a cheap thing to run, even without paying for all the TV shows.

Which they've pretty much done. If you don't get the sport channels you only pay $37 a month.

The old basic pack which was $50.95 now carries a couple of extra sport channels -- A1, Fuel and ESPN.
