Fancy a Chinese Takeaway

Postby JAS » Thu May 28, 2009 6:20 pm

I got our weekly free paper through the door last night and it usually has a couple of flyers for the local area in it. This week it was the new menu for our local Chinese Takeaway so I had a little look through it and.....is it me?...am I reading #205 correctly   ;)

Many years ago I was in Broken Hill and the publican sold bottles of port for the locals who came in asking for a "bottle of f***ing good port". He had labels made that called the bottle "f***ing good port". It expanded for those who came back again with a new label "another f***ing good port". Sold like hotcakes to tourists as well, I think I still have one in the shed at home.

haha...to be fair to them I think it probably reflects what people are asking them for after the pubs close...and being such a small place we don't have much to choose from if you want late night food...the chippies are shut by then and there's no kebab shop or anything like McD's, KFC etc

It's actually a pretty good little takeaway (sober or drunk)...nothing fancy just go through the door and there's a counter, no seating area...been going since before I moved here and that was 18 years ago...several others have started up Indian/Chinese etc but never lasted more than a couple of years.
