Just playing around with some of the features, do people like the rankings under the names?
If not get rid of them completely?
Other options are to get rid of the stars, get rid of the "ranks" or change the "theme" of the rank so perhaps little SF logos show instead?

Up to you guys, Ive never had them before in a forum and they may make the forum look a bit too busy.

So far I have it set up as follows:

Coach - Site Admin
Selection Panel - Moderators
Bench 0 -19 posts made
Pocket 20-39 posts made
Flanker 40-59 posts made
Wing 60 -79 posts made
Key Position 80 - 99 posts made
On Baller 100 + posts

Of course as more posts were made I'd make these marks higher.
Also Ive added some new smilies for people to play with, when you post you'll notice a "View more Emoticons" below the extisting smilies which gives you a larger range to add.

not a fan of the idea. I think total posts is enough.

I think I'm with you dasher, I'll leave them up till tomorrow night and see what the majority say.
Oh, I've also added a bit of chrismas cheer but adding a christmassy flavour to the old smilies too.

too busy yes. plus the rankings tends to marginalize those who havent posted as much. and also tends to make some excessively post just to attain higher rankings. the focus shouldn't be on such things. detracts from it. but keeping a total post count is fine.

I'm with Jimmy there, if the stars go i say atleast keep the named ranks.

Stars are based on the same as the rankings, the more posts made, the more stars, mods and site admin auto have 5 stars.

I just had a thought in the shower (try not to picture it! lol), perhaps instead of a ranking I could put what club people support in that spot and maybe where the stars are just a small horizontal line with the colours of their team.
I know a few times on footysa and bigfooty I've got confused thinking to myself "who does that bloke barrack for again?" as it helps put perspective on some people's comments when you know who they go for, obviously this isn't an issue with Roosters Rules the World or Tigerboss but has been with others.

I agree with you Wedgie. Often on the other site I would read a post and wonder, who does this member follow. Then have to go to Spellys thread to see. Hence the reason I have my avitar up (although doubt anyone would not know who I support)

I like it, if not that just add a new custom profile field with "Team:" and let people fill it in, and it will come up on the left hand side with the posts and location etc.

Great idea.

Rankings are lame - but the stars are outright GAY. Ditch 'em both.

There are people who actually give a shit about the stars that are going post a lot of unneccesary crap just to get their name "up in stars"

This is a great site, and i personally would hate to see it infested with a lot of bulls**t posts for the sake of a ranking. The "bench, key position " bits should stay...but i'm the trainer, can I have trainer on mine???
