Individual odd questions that need answers

I have a few of these and I want to pick some brains out there to answer these questions.
Feel free to ask your own, you never know what people out there have in the back of their skulls.
My first question: Why do TVs invariably make a cracking sound at random times. Has anyone else noticed this?

I assume that it has something to do with expansion/contraction caused by heat...

I find that our plasma, when on the HD channels, makes crackling sounds whenever a predominantly black screen appears, ie. when credits roll. I have no idea why that would be though.

My question that I can't find the answer to on the net, the 'concept' of the workforce changing from labourers doing all the work, to machines doing most of it and people instead being needed to build and maintain the machines. I'm sure there is a name for this, anyone know it?

Whipper Snipper technique. How do you ensure your line doesnt break, necessitating stopping the bloody thing, disassembling, pulling the thread through the holes, reassembling etc. Always happens that few seconds before I employ the "bump & feed".

I gave up on my whipper snipper. Could never get the technique right to avoid this problem. Only have a smallish area of lawn at the front and back and i use garden shears. Doesn't take very long. I also bought an edging attachment for the whipper snipper that is easy to use along the edges bordered with my paving. Can't be used on the other edges where i have metal garden edges though so this is where i use the shears.

I gave up on the string and bought a nylon blade similar to the metal ones to fit the one I had.
Later, I decided I'd rather pay someone else to do that work for me, so I could do others things with my time...

Keep line out of the sun, FattyLumpkin
Once the sun has eaten the resilience in the cord, buy new.
