RIP Mr. Percival

I got to feed him while on a school visit to Marineland. I won the right by correctly naming the actor who starred in Storm Boy. I was given a big fish on the end of a stick which I had to hold in front of him so he could gobble it down. Afterwards was presented with a sticker which read "I fed Mr. Percival".

RIP Mr. Percival!

Greg Rowe was one of my mates at the time ... wasn't a bad footballer either.

... and every pelican since that movie is Mr Percival.

I said to my kids last night "Mr Percival died" :(
And they said "Who?" :o

I loved that movie, and even though my kid's briefly forgot who Mr Percival was they loved it too.
Was the first film I ever saw at the cinemas O:)
And I think every pelican I ever saw for the next 12 months got called Mr Percival

Yes RIP Mr Percival.

I just posted this on adelaide now, thought i might as well copy it into here too:

Remember watching this when i was a little tacker, im only 27 now, but when i was real young. From then on every single pelican i ever saw anywhere in the world automatically was Mr Percival, and by the sounds of it i wasn't alone. For anyone or anything to have that affect on people makes that person or thing very special. And thats exactly what Mr Percival did. tonight when i get home i, like many others, will be putting the Storm Boy DVD or video in the player and raising my glass to a fine animal that affected a lot of people. PS to the people that have decided to use this particular forum to get your political messages across you have no shame, leave the politics to the political articles and let this page remember a great south australian.

I briefly saw this on a news update last night, how sad :(

In saying that, I thought he'd died some time ago - I didn't know pelicans lived that long

Another South Australian icon gone :(

I remember seeing shorts of the film, but never saw the whole thing.
I like Pelicans though - I used to have them in the back yard the short time I lived on Delfin Island.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!
