BUCK SHOW SUGGESTIONS

Postby Bum Crack » Fri Jan 15, 2010 9:16 am

G'day fellas. I had a mate ask me last night if I had any ideas for a buckshow he has to organise soon. I have a few ideas, but would be keen to hear what you blokes may have done for your's, or what you organised for the groom. Cheers.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

been to a few;

my buckshow i was dressed up in an adult diaper and paraded down rundle street while the fringe was on, also had been spray painted with a few stencils and drawn all over with permanent markers

one other one we went to a pool hall, while we were there one of the boys took the grooms car and left it at maccas, we then dressed him up as a tranny and dropped him on Hanson rd without a phone or wallet and took off up the other end, we then made him go to maccas and ask for his keys from the staff

the most recent one we had a large group and took the groom to town, we tied him to a tree, got him down to his undies and tarred and feathered him, we tied his hands together with a blowup doll, put a leash on him and took him up hindley street

good times!

Sorry I can't help with this one - that's an area I have NO knowledge about..
Your post raised an issue for me that is interesting to think about.
There are obviously more than one set of social customs abroad, yet it has hardly impinged on me until I read your post, and it prompted me to think about it.
We all tend to assume that what our circle do is the norm, yet I've married twice and never had a buck show, neither of the ladies I married had a hen's night, and none of my friend's have had them when they married either...

Anyway good luck with it - I'll be interested in the advice that comes, as I'll benefit from the cultural education.

Never understood the whole tar and feather, blow up doll business. Bit twisted and believe me, I'm ok with twisted.

For mine, paintball / go karting then drink as much as you can before the strippers arrive.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

On the same wavelength as you mate.

One of the better ones I went to recently was a cold day on the hill at the Parade with plenty of Ales, pub crawl, boobies, casino ... Nothing too silly (the buck was wearing a Mankini all day, but that wasn't my idea).

lol .. Getting pretty boring in my old age.

i was just along for the ride on that one. the groom (from church) had his mates (not from church) run the thing. we then went and stayed at a shack at second valley. at no buck shows i've been on has there been any alcohol or strippers, that's not how we roll.

Agree boys, i reckon some kind of activity during the day (cricket/footy, races, go-karting) is the way to go. Then spend the evening with a few quiet ales, and some entertainment... ;)

GO FOR IT !
I believe it's a very important celebration.
Sometimes a bloke needs to enjoy a few drinks with his mates in order to clear his mind
and see what a disastrous mistake he is making, prior to calling off the marriage !
Don't leave it too late though. Some women get touchy for some strange reason.
Good luck.

The only strip show I ever attended was in the Pink Pussycat at King's Cross in 1973 or 1974. There were 3 mates and one guy's wife was with us.
We only went in because she was keen and talked the guy on the door into reversing the usual charges and making it $10 for the lady and $5 for the guys.
Very explicit, but my outstanding memory was how much they wanted for a glass of Coca Cola, which I decided to skip at the price.

Mine was pretty low key, but that's all I wanted. Just in the backyard, the old man (he's a chef) fired up the BBQ with garlic prawns, steak and barramundi, and about 15 of us go stuck into the cans.

My younger brother is a PE teacher so he raided the supply cupboard and brought a heap of sports equipment up and had a heap of games organised. Everyone crashed the night and then up for a massive feed of bacon and eggs on the barbie for brekkie. Good fun without being over the top (thank God it was too far for REB to get there! )

Currently in the throws of organising younger brother's bucks show, gonna be a road trip down to the SE on the March long weekend, camping on a golf course which should be fun.

I reckon a bucks show is all about what the buck wants to do on his last night of freedom, not what everyone else wants to do. If he wants the be tarred and feathered and paraded down Hindley St in a mankini then go for it. If he wants to go scrub and sit round a twiggy shootin sh1t with his best mates over some cans well then do that. It's up to them, and the best man just makes it happen.

I got married back in late August last year and my best man got hitched in October, for which I was his best man.

Because we have a lot of mutual friends and the 2 families know each other well, we decided to have a joint Bucks nigth. There were about 30 or 40 of us who decided to have a meal at the old Kent Town Hotel, now the Tap Inn. A fair few of us are big golf fans so we saw it appropriate to eat there and have some fun with the indoor driving range.

Once that all winded up we headed to the Norwood Pool Hall for a couple of hours where the older blokes wound things up and headed home. After that, those left headed into town where we hit Hindley Street and a couple of the gentleman's establishments.

After that, we grabbed a slice from Pizza Revolution, watched some of the entertainment on Hindley Street that occurs at 2am in the morning, off to the Casino for a couple of hours (where I won $500 with $100 outlay) then home by 5am.

Much to my suprise, the missus was still up partying at our place with all her girlfriends from her Hen's night at the Bath around the corner from home. Then we pretty much just all kept drinking until the sun came up and woke up some time in the afternoon that day.

By the way you worded it, you were saying that nobody on the buskchow had a drink. I would hate to go to that buck show.
