Just reading the online news I came across this story:

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sout ... 5839335941

Good on him I say.

Would you get your camera/phone out and take a photo for evidence in this way?

Do you have any of your own similar stories?

A few years ago when living at Victor Harbor every morning when we woke up there was graffiti in the street on peoples garage doors - albeit just with textas not paint. One of the neighbours caught them - they were only about 11 or 12 and he took their photo. He said if I ever see you around here doing this kind of thing again I'll take this photo to the police.

There was no graffiti from that point on - mind you apparantly they were genuinely remorseful so probably scared the crap out of them anyway.

Then.....

A few weeks ago my daughters friends were on the beach at Port Willunga and some other girls starting yelling "Get of our ******* beach" - the girls not wanting any trouble left the beach and got in their car and left. Not long later they had the same girls in a car alongside them trying to run them off the road and all this sort of carry on - 'our' girls ended up stopping and the other girls came at them with a crow bar - my daughters friends were horrified.

When my daughter was telling me I said to her they've all got camera phones so why didn't they whip them out and take photos of the car/girls etc?

Anyway - in that case long story short - those girls were caught - already had prior convictions and had travelled all the way down from the other side of Adelaide looking for trouble.

the victim did the right thing for evidence & personel safety, however i'll bet a 'smart lawyer' will get these 'thugs' off & the victim will get charged with invading someones privacy & if that did happen it would prove that the law is indeed an ass

We've only seen one photo. A smart lawyer would argue that whilst it proves they were "at the scene" it doesn't prove what is alleged to have occurred. That's why video footage and CCTV are much more helpful.

Likewise, you can also take a photo or video if you are simply suspicious. For example, if you see someone photographing a bank or loitering outside a school. If something transpires, you can pass it on then.
