Dear All,
I am just wondering if anybody knows of a good vebue to hire out for a birthday party. Somewhere that allows you to self cater food and grog would be good.
We live in the Glenelg area and have used the GFC a few times, so looking for somewhere different.
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks.

Try some of the bowls clubs in your area. Not self catered grog but it's cheap, and if you pay a bit extra they might even organist a bit of a 'night owls' style comp for you. Holdfast Bay right on the corner of ANZAC highway would be your best shot.
Otherwise contact your local council, they would have a few 'institute' style halls you could hire for bugger all.

There's a theatre on Brighton Rd just between the Rugby Club and the Brighton Pub IIRC - it is basically a hall with a stage, but it does have a kitchen I'm pretty sure.
RSL Clubs?
Surf Life Saving Club?

Scout Halls are often cheap and have the basic ammenities, they don't mind hiring them out either to get some extra coin in for themselves.

Morphettville Park Sports Club. 82951048. Around corner from Morphett Arms. Open til Midnight.
Self catering allowed.
Can BYO soft drinks.
Can BYO wine & Champs. (Small Corkage fee charged)
Bar staff supplied.
Will have to buy beer & spirits tho.
Everyone i have organised a party for in the last 2 years is doing the "susidised" drinks idea. Customer pays $1-$2 and host pays the balance.
Usually party guests pay for their own spirits too in my experience.
Venue hire TBA
Juke box, tables & chairs, privacy, outdoor areas & no cleanup!
Much better than a hall.

Freemasons halls are at Brighton, Edwardstown and Goodwood, all are available for hire and have a Kitchen and large hall area.

Went to a good 40th show down at the Seacliff yacht club last year. Good down to earth sort of joint, no worries with noise etc, pretty reasonable rates.
