Yep, I work down there and it was total chaos. Thankfully it doesn’t affect our productivity too much on Monday’s. Tomorrow looking bad though already

Does anyone else believe there has been a change in weather forecasting in the last year or so?

They seem to over estimate for all weather events, Im guessing this might be deliberate as they would rather people be over prepared than under prepared, already this winter we have had all these warnings chucked at us and emergency services put in place such as sand bags etc etc but then it passes without much of an issue.

It will end up like the boy that cried wolf, no one will take notice of the warnings and we will get hit with a proper weather event!

20 odd call outs to the SES last night, 3300 customers without power. Think it was necessary otherwise we have a September 2016 on our hands again. Plenty of systems and processes were left wanting that day...

I heard the rain had been pretty bad the last few days. I guess with all the “where’s there blame there’s a claim” crap that goes on these days everyone has to be extra cautious. There’ll always be someone who tries to sue the met office for not giving them any warning when the flood hits.

I suggested that yesterday on the footy thread. It's been happening a lot lately, Monday night I was expecting my house and I to wake up a few suburbs away.

I tend to agree since they were given the power of Catastrophic fire warnings they seem to go over the top way too often. The power has gone to their head. Although having said that yesterday in the Hills we had over 50mm lost the back gutter and water coming in the front door.

it comes from the public's misunderstanding of the confidence intervals they give on the rain

the BOM say something like 3-8mm and we get 3 and people think they got it wrong because they only look at the biggest number

No seat warmers in my car, just let off the odd trouser trumpet to keep warm.
