BOM's accuracy has deteriorated since there have been cutbacks and some tracking stations have closed . I don't like admitting it but Accuweather has been much more reliable since about 2017.
One of the issues though is that in recent years the tropical flows have been coming in further south than they did - more likely over the Broome area than nearer Darwin - while the westerlies are coming through further north. The result is there is much more interaction and mixing of the flows and the outcome of that is less predictable.

Near gale here now ahead of the strongest system yet, still hopeful to get 15-30mm
If anyone is interested in weather as much as I am tune in to ABC 639 am week days at 12:23pm for a comprehensive and detailed forecast from the BOM. Farmers across the state stop what they are doing everyday to hear the weather at this time during the country hour.
