I tell ya what Flyer I really hopes this happens.

My mates are leaving in droves and once they taste the Melbourne and Sydneys they never want to come back.

We just need some atmosphere and somethng to do.

Just have to make sure all those unsightly homeless people are swept into darker pockets of the city...

And don't encourage them to come back WLF. I came back and to quote a recruitment agent (no longer in Adelaide), I committed "career suicide" by coming back to Adelaide.

AFLflyer, the precinct looks good. I'm sure some do gooders will veto the idea, or at least block it or part of it making it a white elephant. (See LeCornu's site, Victoria Park etc, etc, etc).

The Festival Centre plaza is one thing they need to get right - what a waste of space and potential that's been over the years. Screaming out for some vision! Hope this one works....but won't hold my breath.

Took my class to Parliament House the other day. We were given an insight into Adelaide's unfortunate history of half-baked, over-time and underdone development with a talk about the original Parliament House designs which if you aren't aware, were considerably more grand being double the size with an iconic White House style dome on top. The building began and after running out of money and much squabbling (sound familiar?) it was eventually finished - 50 years later. Half its intended size, no dome, a compromise on-the-cheap version that screams Southern Expressway. Y'know, you want to be positive but what is it with us? It's actually enshrined in our culture.

Looks very impressive but then concept pictures always do. Like the way it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in it's surroundings the way most things here do so hope you get it. If nothing else it'll be good for your jobs market and create employment.

Good to see you all drive sensibly and slowly over there  Btw what the heck is a Planery hall? :?

Regards
JAS

I hope this all goes ahead. This would really invigorate the City (and I hope the government passes legislation that keeps the Adelaide City Council well away from the project).

going to the footy on a friday or saturday night would become the norm for me and my mates anytime we head into the city for a night on the cans. at the moment, i only really go when collingwood are playing, or if there is a team i would like to watch such as Geelong and if i have nothing better to do with my time.

footy in the city, i could see my personal attendance rate go from 2 or 3 games max a year, to 7-10 games.

This is a good comment. I love Adelaide and get pissed off whenever people bag it as I don't feel the need to bag other Australian cities. However, I am earning over twice what I was in my home town and if I remained I'd be still on the rent cycle and getting nowhere. Even though I miss the place I just can't afford to live there.

Surely we would have the most architects and least amount of builders per capita in the world?

Looks pretty in the video.
Now if I could just see the actual layout plans, and the traffic flow predictions, I may be able to form an opinion.

My latest news from my ALP contacts is that Mike has decided not to retire to his villa in Italy, but intends to stay on and contest the next SA election.
They are not entirely thrilled..

Neither am I. :x He's about as innovative as tapioca pudding. How about he concentrates less on his tramlines and bikie vendettas, and more on providing adequate mental health services and putting a gag on the Adelaide Council so we can actually have an iconic building in the city?
