Cold ones I'd hope [emoji6]

That is another issue ;)

Expensive ones probably based on the price I had to pay for a stubbie of WED on Thu night at the umpires presentation dinner

$8 FMD

This post should be in the what gives me the sh!ts thread....

Hence why you don't buy them on the day ;)

$6 wasn't a bad price on the outer wing, Furphy's too!

He still watches games and talks on the roost most days.
Didn't make the GF due to committments with the company he owns though.

When in a job interview and they ask "what coin are you looking at"?

Do you:

A: Go unders to enhance your chance of getting the job.
B: Go high and see if they negotiate you down.
C: Tell them that you're sure that you'll come to an agreement if you're the successful applicant.

I can only assume what the previous employee was on from the research I've done, he was in the role for over 10 years though.

That is a damn good question and I think the answer is D: any of the above, situation dependent.

Yes, salaries are a taboo subject at work, being advertised internally within all of our sites it's a roll of the dice, I will kill it at the interview but there's one question I'll struggle with.

It makes it harder that I've only had limited hands-on experience in the department I'm applying for but have an excellent understanding of the business as a whole, downside is I've missed out on other opportunities in the past as they don't want to take me out of my role.

So you will coach, mentor, instruct your replacement as part of your skill set in succession planing.

Whole of business understanding is one of the most important assets a person can have but it is not rated highly by some senior managers in many industries. Usually because they do not have it. It is the outsider effect.

I'd probably go 'C'.

Then if unsuccessfull, and you know they cant afford to move you from your current position, ask for a pay rise.

Yes, but there's abnormalities that pop up where you need to choose your own adventure, kind of like ask for forgiveness rather than ask for permission if you make the wrong choice, I have really good mathematically skills and my job is basically a mathematical jigsaw puzzle every day, there's some shit you just can't teach as it's all in your head.

I am due, I've been here for 19 of the past 21 years, 11 years this stint, they tracked me down to return and admittedly I have been a bit rough around the edges previously and a bit out there, for the past 6 years I have been a different person here and upper management have duly noted the changes and input I provide now.

I'm a tad nervous, I know there's other applications with more suited credentials that's why I only have one chance to blow them away with my thoughts on improving the area along with selling myself, I'll hardly let them get a word in.

I've extracted all the coin I can out of this role, I'll have to sit on it for 2 or 3 years to get a rise of great proportions as my colleague that does a similar role to me but for a different area is nearing retirement, I will take on both roles for the right price, and he's on more than me because of some bullshit reason.

But yeah, C is how I'll probably roll, I just want them to name the price first if I'm successful.

And if the price isn't right for the position you are applying you can always turn it down

B - Definitely B.

Slightly different as you know the role being in the company already, but, if you don't really know the demands, pressure, expectations etc you'd be mad to take on a role with more demands, pressure, expectations etc without being adequately reimbursed.

I had an interview a few weeks back, didn't get the role, kind of felt like I was "the other guy" and they'd already made their decision. As it turns out I'm not sure I'd have taken it. Fair bit more money and super but I got the feeling the very good work/life balance I have now would have been significantly eroded and I'm not sure I really wanted that.

I was torn between B and C.
I thought with B it gives them an easy 'out'.

If you are fairly sure that you will get the job, ask for something above what you want and let them negotiate down.

If the job is in doubt, let them make you an offer and negotiate up.

I'm stale, frustrated and bored where I am, I barely utter a word to my peers during the day unless I have to.

I'm going to put forward approximately an additional 75% more than what I currently get and then go from there, it's a bit daunting as there are other candidates that have done the role interstate applying for it, I was in the GM's office last week to sort an issue out and he had the resumé's lined up on one of his table's, I was able to make out some of the names and then do some research on them which helped me get some dot points together to work out my best angle of attack.

I'm neither here nor there, I think that I'd be the best person for the role, but do they?

Holding off the $$$ negotiations could be the key as I'll be able to distinguish whether they want me for the role or not, then it will give me leverage.
