I'm in desperate need of a holiday and I'm think about taking out a 5k personal loan. I'm full time at work and can comfortably get the time off. It's been an intense 2 years in my life culminating in myself heading a transition of one rec centre into another which is due to be completed in a weeks time which has made for a very stressful 6 months

I do have a rather large loan which is due to be paid off next July.

Should I just ask to have 5k added back on that loan

Should I get a completely seperate loan

Should I get a new loan and then consolidate my two loans

Or

Should I try my hardest to hold out until next July and then get the new loan

I'm not overly great with personal finance loans etc

If it was me, try to hold out.

The stress of achieving at work sounds like it is coming to an end. The extra stress that you may get with increased payments etc may only add to your problems. Taking out two loans will normally incur two sets of fees. Increasing the size of the loan without negotiating a longer period to pay it back will tighten your finances by about $120 per week on your time frame.

It's easy to say just hold out but I know first hand of people who get trapped on the credit cycle and have nothing to show for it at the end.

5k For a holiday may be a little or a lot depending on your circumstances. If it's time away you really want perhaps think of something closer to home. A lot of expense for some holidays is the travel Such as air fares. A tank of fuel will get you a long way.

Did i hear right that the wind generators were shut down because it was too windy?

Forgive my ignorance but wouldn't it be a good thing to have high winds to generate more power... and then can't they turn them so they arent facing directly into the teeth of the wind to slow them down if necessary...

You heard right. They don't work when there's no wind and they don't work when there's too much wind.

I forgot to register my car for two days and drove down Port Wakefield road where the overhead camera's are, I'm assuming that I will be caught for it, has anyone else been caught by them camera's and if you did, did you get multiple fines for each time you went through them?

Assume you paid up the rego when you realised?

Thought they only checked for trucks to ensure their log books matched up regarding rest breaks?

Pretty much, I had the flu and was doing reno's for my house for an open inspection on the weekend. It ran out Friday at 11:59pm, I went to the markets Sunday morning and to work this morning before realizing.

I know them camera's have caught other people I know.

I thought they were only a point to point speed camera, meaning as long as you didn't speed anywhere from point A to point B, you'll probably be ok.

The point to point cameras just do speed I think. They are the regular cameras on the posts and you pass through about 6 of those in total, 3 on each side of the road.

The rego ones are overhead with a camera pointing down on each lane.

I know with speed cameras if you go through one and get done a couple of times by the same camera on the same day you can go to court and appeal to have the second cancelled, I assume it will be the same with the rego cameras

https://www.sa.gov.au/topics/transport- ... -detection

According to the site above, there's a 7 day period after going through a registration camera where you can't receive another fine by a rego camera, but you can be fined again in that period if stopped by a cop

Thank you, that makes sense.

I've heard a few "good luck" stories that people have been through them for a week and not copped a fine, unfortunately that generally doesn't happen to me.
