A question to all my fellow beer drinkers out there.

Being a beer guzzling lazy football fan I'm strongly considering purchasing a Heiniken Keg for the upcoming footy finals. I have a few questions for the more learned among you..

1. How much do they cost?
2. Are they decent value or just a gimmick to galvanise the gullible?
3. How long do they 'keep' for?
4. How much do they cost? Oh hang on, I've already asked that one.

Any help would be much appreciated. I'll tell you what, I'll mail you a beer from Qld for helping me out.

Novelty value - Excellent
Beer value - Poor.

Knowing you as I do, here is some maths for you.

5000ml of beer = 13.333 Stubbies. You will get one game out of your "keg".

My advice, find a box full of grubbies instead.

Little do they know that when given one of the above mentioned "kegs" for Christmas you find yourself wanting for more not long after lunch.....

done it a couple of times, never tested how long it will keep for, was good for a one of type thing not great value just a bit of a novalty

I got the genuine article for my 18th and nearly got my head knocked off when the tap got ejected from the top. Not trying that shit again I can assure you!

They had a good deal on during the World Cup where you could get them for around $24 or something ... Booney's first post is spot on, they are great for novelty but value-wise not much chop.

Those were the dears when you had to properly spear a keg and get the gas settings spot on. Nowadays, the new "taps" are just too easy. No spirit of adventure, but all about OH&S I guess.

Nothing better than that high squeal as you took the spear out when the keg was finished - saw a few go through garage rooves as well.

Good for taking on a round of golf, done that a few times but not very good value for money.

In that case I'm lucky to be alive. It popped out and smacked me right in the head. Maybe that's why I'm not and the bodies are building up in the backyard. Might be time to move again!

About $30 each, seem to keep quite well, had a particular one in the bar for probably 4 months and on the odd occasion where someone has a pint, the pressure in the keg is still fine and the beer itself doesn't seem any different to when it was first opened.

Just by the by, how much does a REAL keg cost? might look into it for grand final weekend...

Depends where u get it from, the beer in it and if u know any1 who works in a pub that can get u 1 on the cheap....

budget on a couple of hundred and may get change, might be a tad short too though...
