Is this the beginning of the end for the Coalition?
Should be.
But the factional warlords are more interested in settling old scores than winning government.

Excellent post. I have long been an admirer of the current government that has given the country a decade or more of ecomomic prosperity, unemployment is low, young people leaving school now have a much better chance of getting a job than 10 years ago. Now to to the negatives, up until now the government has used sensible pragmatism to run the country an avoided being swept up in "issues" created by the left, this has now changed, IDEOLOGY has replaced pragmatism, hence we have the IR laws. Ideology like religion can be used to justify any crime or injustice. The end for the coalition? just could be. Costello is seen by many who hate him as a right wing Boogeyman, I think if he wins the Liberal leadership he will water down these laws to save the party at the next election. There was need for industrial reform but not the radical and unjust laws we now have.
