BEWARE of scams.....you'd think it was my lucky week !!!!!!!

beware of scams.....you'd think it was my lucky week !!!!!!!

number 1,
well last week i got in the mail addressed 'to the householder' an invitation for a free dinner at a certain restaurant to look at stylish italian furniture & other houshold appliances etc.....now while i basically knew it was 'suspect' i thought i might go for the free feed & not buy anything, however i didn't go & i had notice this scam was on today tonight a day or so later......never such a thing as a free lunch

number 2,
i received a text message on monday & i won 1,000,000 pounds as my number was selected at random by nokia, all i had to do was just email details......i'm with telstra

number3,
on the house phone today i was randomly selected to win a trip for two to honolulu......after that first sentence i just hung up on him

now these are obviously scams so while most people aren't gullible some are so please look out for family or friends that may be vulnerable
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Last week I won over 2,450,000 British pounds via 3 emails, and , people wanted to deposit 3,500,000 American Dollars in my bank account that they would split with me. Pretty good week I reckon.

Mate of mine was contacted by a magazine he subscribed to, telling he won a competition that he hadn't even entered for, but they said apparently it was just a random draw.

Chuckled, we his mates all did.

A trip to Mauritius and $45k later confirmed it was legit!

no no no

you dont hang up on them

you play with them, you get them talking, you keep them on the phone for as long as possible until they realise you arent serious and then they hang up on you!!!!

then they will never call you back

I love the ones when they call work...

We have carte blanche to do what we want...

Generally... Put them on hold ("just going to get the manager sir"), then after five or ten minutes pick the phone up...

IF they are still on the phone and haven't hung up, they get about two sentences of me pretending to be the manager, before I act like I have taurette's syndrome... :D

Exactly - whenever I get one from India - I immediately start up a conversation about cricket - ALL Indians love cricket and can't help themselves talking about Tendulkar - one bloke even asked me about accommodation in various Aust cities near the major cricket venues - they all forget about whatever they're meant to talk to you about as they just love talking cricket. And yes you then go ages without calls...

then they will never call you back

Love it JAS.
I may borrow it if I ever get a telemarketing call, but I haven't had one since I starting paying the extra for a "silent" number.

Yeh I'm on a similar thing here called 'exdirectory' and I'm on the 'no cold calls' register thingy but I still get the occasional overseas one or those automated ones that randomly dial numbers getting through.

Sadly I'm not quick thinking enough or brave enough to try that response but this one is tempting (an advert for tea from a few years back)...even if it would mean having to buy a musical toy :?
