Who and when did someone actually come up with this phrase about this (in)famous stretch of road in Adelaide?

Cant recall how long ago it started, probably before my time. But I think it refers to the old Monier roof tile site, top end of Brighton Rd.

That's probably it; I just asked Mum - when she was younger (35-40 years ago), she lived on Brighton Road, and that's what she said too. Keeping in mind that she is 50 this year - shes' not ancient!
