The walk socks will come back in fashion. Perhaps not worn on the legs.

Lately, I'm wearing a long pony tail, a full beard but trimmed short. and in warm weather cargo pants, so that I have enough pockets for my phone, my mask, my reading specs, wallet, and car keys, when I'm not wearing a jacket.

My new wife - I remarried in late 2019 - is a former actress and Children's TV producer, and on a theatre board.
She has had some effect on the hair do.

I remember Thwaites. When I was at University in the late1960s my parents gave me the money to buy myself a new suit at Thwaites prices, but in the end I raided my own savings to pay nearly double for a more trendy mohair and silk job at Don Tailors...

Do you know what, it's just occured to me after all these years, that with that description, you could be my local doctor, - he also has a ponytail and beard - his wife died a few years ago too.

Hmmmmm ;)

Pony tails on men give them that 1980's look.

19 at the back, 80 at the front.

Nup. I only do specialist locum work in other states - mainly WA or VIC, or sometimes NSW.

The shopkeeper giving you a couple of lollies instead of the 2 cent change from the carton of milk you just went to get for your mum.

Big M flavoured milk when you went on a road trip.

The little soft drink bottles with the foam like label around to bottom half.

Speaking of milk sold at shops, deli's. they had to be licensed and their license was above the door on a wooden plaque normally.

Friday's after school I'd go to the deli and get Dad a carton on Winnie Reds, the News, I'd get 2 slices of fritz and a glass of coke and put on our tab.

Anyone else remember buying a glass of coke over the counter?

Gee, you knew you were sucking on a dart if you had a Winnie Red hanging out the gob.

Similar to the B&H special filters...not only were you smoking one, but everyone in a one mile radius...

I'm a year older and me neither.

Mind you, we lived behind the shop so we'd grab 2 one litre bottles from the back of the shop and take them into the shop to get the 40 cents for them and stock up on lollies and an ice cream.

I remember when the coke cans had "coke" written in the bottom of the can for you to win a free can, I'd whoof down a can while I was waiting for my hot chips to be ready and then use the can to claim another free can.

I smoked 16mg Marlboro soft pack imported from the US back in the day (gave it up 16 years ago).
I apologise to my lungs every morning now.

Same, and in the neighbourhood i grew up in, more often than not when you check the can on the street, it had been used as a makeshift pipe

The win ratio was insane. I got up to about 7 without buying one.

At least no one would've scabbed any, or if they did they'd be set for a while.

At school we used to slide magnesium strips into ciggies that we gave out, dude would be puffing away and then all sorts of fireworks would be going off right near his snoz, still no way near the dumbest thing we used to do.

We used to steal bullets from my mates old man, we'd take them down the creek and ditch them at the slanted concrete walls that flanked the roads for the water to pass under. If you hit the bullet in the right spot it would shoot the pellets everywhere, I still shake my head to this day that we thought that was fun.

Sadly long gone. My first job out of school was for a company that had lunch there every Friday.

We used to get two bolts and a nut
Screw one bolt slightly in
Scratch off match heads into nut cavility
Screw other bolt in
Flick into air and if it land on the bolt head BANG
I have no idea how one of us didn't lose an eye or copped a bolt into the face
