Mate, you are lucky to have a lovely family and things set in concrete for yourself. There have been dark times when I've questioned whether it's all worth it and felt like a burden on the world.
No one can see it coming in some instances.

I do understand that much, LM.
I understand the drivers.
The concept of taking your own life and making that decision - that's what I'll never understand (I hope).

A lot of the time its a mental condition that people cant help which drives them to commit suicide. I know in my Dads case, it was very hard for him to overcome, and he ultimately took his own life in 2011. This was after nearly a decade of attempts to get help, and an unsuccessful suicide attempt in 2002.

He did the whole thing. Anti-depressants, an implant in his arm that did something to the chemicals in his body, even resorted to a two week stay in a private hospital to receive shock therapy.

In the end it was not enough, and he took his own life.

I dont think anyone knows what its like unless they experience it first hand.

People always say its the selfish way out, but I think of it differently. I saw my Dad struggle with his own thoughts for years while I grew up and I couldnt imagine doing it.

I think sometimes the people on the outside of the situation are kinda being selfish expecting someone to deal with something they have no idea about. I know I probably wouldnt be able to deal with what my Dad did for as long as he did.

******* oath mate, that's what snapped me out of it, I had lost everything I'd worked for, I'm a far stronger person for it now. I've been to hell and back in the past 12 months and just when I could see a glimmer of light I lost my dad.
I'll get better again and concentrate on what is important to me.

I've made it through 2 unsuccessful attempts (one at 14; the other at 19). I believed, and still do to a certain extent, that I was insignificant and unworthy of love, respect and friendship, and growing up was the loneliest time for me. As a result, I have little to no self-esteem.

I'm not happy about the way I grew up, but I don't regret it either, as it's made me a lot more resilient than I otherwise would've been.

I know I'm one of the lucky ones.
