Gee, if my teacher wore a dress like that I would've been dropping heaps of pens.

Pretty sure she's a bartender. Nevertheless, I'd be dropping 5 cent pieces like they're going out of fashion.

Good call at the bottom of the story, which says the majority of 18-24 year olds get loaded before even going out. It's just another storm in a tea cup I think.

LMAO.

How did 6 o'clock closing go?
Or Prohibition?

Drinkers will always find a way. Weather it's vodka for ice in the esky with the orange juice or a bottle inside a loaf of bread you can't stop us. Banning our happy hours won't make you any happier or make us sober industrious wowsers.

FAIL.

regards,

REB

Wowserism and political correctness reign supreme!

I go to a local pub once a week, they have a happy hour from 5-6pm, $5 for a pint, $4 for a galss of bottled house wine....not bad, no one is getting pissed and there is no violence, why should the vast majority who do the right thing suffer?

I don't smoke, but I've taken to defending smokers, the rules and intolerance have gone way too far, I'm supposed to report staff members I see smoking on the campus....no bloody way

I like this poem by the German resistance hero of WWII - Pastor Martin Niemoller

First They came...

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

First they came for the smokers......now the drinkers......what's next?

The world was a much better place as little as 10-15 years ago..

No political correctness gone mad, no noisy minorities telling ME what is good for me and what isn't.

Geez, I remember 80c beers at the Holdie before heading on down to Lennies for the next happy hour...

Didn't end up in a fight, didn't cause trouble , just had a good time...

Too many d*ckheads out there now looking for trouble wanting to be little thug wann be's.. The grog is just an excuse for them when they get caught.

Look out, that way lies "it was much better in my day"!

There were plenty of idiots around in "my day" (which I presume means around 18-25 years old, early to mid 90's for me). Drinking/drugging too much, looking for fights, drink driving etc etc etc. Not as much coverage of it in the papers though.

There was plenty of political correctness about too.

Having said that, trying to ban happy hours is just daft. As REB said, drinkers will always find a way. And yes, I have smuggled a bottle of grog into the cricket hidden inside a loaf of bread!
