I wonder whether there will be some method of accountability for this promise or it will just sit with Rann's 100,000 jobs and Koutsantonis' 5,000 mining jobs

its all good and proper to give these 480 or more jobs to locals but not everyone can build a overpass or a bridge as most on the facebook page and reports in the advertiser are saying "give ALL the jobs to locals" .

You need qualifications for that and this takes time.

Looks like finally some good news first with the Arrium sale and the possibility of expansion and upgrading of the plant, it now looks like BHP are looking at some expansion works to increase production.

Small steps but finally a few industries in SA with something positive happening.

Yep. Smart business when you build your own energy source combined with government incentives. They will save and make shitloads over the long term. They have the potential to set the platform for other businesses.

I just visited the RAAF base and the work going on in there is massive. I knew there was a lot going on, but the scale surprised me.
That project is bringing lots of $$$ to SA in the construction phase, while it will result in massive economic benefits for the state with the Forces members who will be moving here and using our services.

The construction for the P8's has been a lot (not to mention the army moving down here and all the work that has gone on in the past 5 years)

It's amazing. Hadn't been in the RAAF base for about 20 years, so to see all that's been built/being built was eye-opening.
Those big planes are going to make some noise as they come in over Penfield. The indication is the Orion's will be no longer part of the force within three years.
Sadly the golf course is no longer, though.

Yep, I spend a fair bit of time on base and there have been some massive changes in the last 5-10 years and still plenty more to come. Sadly the Golf course is long gone
