Hey all. After having been in hospital since Sunday morning I was just told my gallbladder will be coming out. Who else has had this op? How was your recovery? Have you had to make any changes to lifestyle or diet?

mate I just asked a relly of mine who is a doctor. He said "no sweat" and recommended yo google up Gall Bladder removal and it will give you a panoramic view of the procedure. I think you will need some modifications to your lifestyle. No water skiing for at least three months so could be a problem!

Hey mate, my wife had her Gall Bladder out about 3 years ago and while painful for a couple of weeks she managed OK... She wasn't supposed to drive for 2 weeks after, but I tore my ACL 4 days after she got out of surgery so she had to do the driving...I wasn't very popular for a while... :D

The only issue she has now is she can't eat Banana's (something to do with the potassium), though that's not that big of a deal due to the exhorbitant price of them at the moment. She also can't have codeine either as this causes her to have a painful reaction. Apparantly this is common after having your Gall Bladder removed.... Apparantly...

Thanks Jase.

Had the op yesterday and am resting at home. Only part that is really sore is from where they yanked the gallbladder out through my belly button. Will feel better then the swelling in my stomach goes down. Key hole surgery is a great thing!

Had mine removed on friday at the RAH. Nothing but praise for everyone I came in contact with at the hospital. Funny enough Im at home resting at the moment after probably over doing it yesterday at the boat show. Yes the only place Im sore is the belly button area. Was given 2 stones as a momento, quite large 16mm across. As for what you can and cant do, eat, drink all depends on what web site you log onto, i personally think that you will find out yourself whats right and whats wrong.
