NBA basketball player Jason Collins has just announced he's gay the first active player in major US sports history to do so.

He's received a lot of support from NBA stars like Kobe Bryant & Steve Nash and also from President Obama and former US president Bill Clinton for what is a very courageous decision in a country like the US.

What's Trent Plucktrum's view on this matter? He moves closely amongst the gay community, let's hear it from the horses's mouth. ;)

I missed the "great debate" tonight, but read an article that Rudd has vowed that if the ALP wins the September 7 election, they will push for a conscience vote on the subject of gay marriage, within 100 days.

The best part was Abbotts response to the question regarding gay marriage, typical political crap talking about all other policies but no response to the actual question

They will have a "conscious vote", but Im sure Rudd will vote against it, and most of his spineless underlings will follow suit to impress their leader.

He'll say whatever he thinks will get him voted in again. He's previously said he wouldn't support gay marriage while courting Christian groups for their vote, in 2007 i believe.

On the Liberal Vs Labour thing, I reckon they're all **** wits...

Very true, I remember Rudd pre-'07 election getting in bed with the ACL, they also were playing a major role in the construction of Labor's internet filter which they ditched after they eventually realised people hated the idea.

Rudd is smart, offering a conscience vote on gay marriage ensures it won't get up but makes it look like it might.

Rudd creeps me out. There's something sinister about his whole demeanour. I think he backs gay marriage because it suits him. Times are a-changing - he's courting the youth vote, and young people are predominantly in favour of gay marriage.

As for Abbott - jeez. It'd be nice if he'd allow his members a conscience vote this time round but I can't see it happening.

Is he ever! I reckon he has been to about 8 schools in the past week and a bit, shame the kids can't vote. Why not meet up with some small business owners, Kev? Oh, and to keep on topic, maybe some small business owners who may or may not support gay marriage.
