Thanks fellas, the worst is apparently behind us but he could be in hospital for a few weeks, will know more tomorrow

On the flipside companies often hold onto dead wood as they don't want to or can't afford to pay them out due to length of service. My mum, far from dead wood, seeked a voluntary redundancy from one of the big banks for years before she retired.

It's true.
During this round of redundancy, which was forced not voluntary, I have lost another worker on top of it who was so angry and not getting selected he's quit

Pretty much. After 46 years. Been handing in sick leave certificates for 6 weeks and is on LSL until July now and has told us "off the record" we will get to sack him after that.

My lead up to Xmas sucks

Sunday: daughters car breaks down, major issues, large bill
Monday: as published, large tax bill
Tuesday: Home ducted air con crashes, ring all these companies and no one available till the new year to repair

Tomorow: I can hardly bloody wait
You cant change your past but you can sure hell shape you future
