Another family torn apart with a double fatality on our country roads, I hope whufc isn't close to this one given what he's been through.

Take care on the roads people, particularly those of you in regional SA or who travel frequently on those roads. Come home safe.

Don't know the people involved but do some family members through playing cricket against them.

Far too many lives lost on the road and for some reason we don't seem to be able to reduce the number.

Mobile phones and distraction a huge factor. When I was in Mildura 2 weeks back they had a senior ranking police officer on the radio and he specifically said this is easily the biggest reason why the road toll hasn’t dropped further as it should.

If that’s the case why don’t they build technology in the phone and/or car that disables phones being used whilst driving.
Surely it can’t be that hard.
If it saves just one life it’s worth it.

Good luck convincing any mobile phone company to introduce technology that disables you using your phone. Putting phones in a glove box by law when driving seems more logical.

What gives me the shits is all the increasing advertising everywhere - on my computer OS (MicroSoft), on my phone apps, and now on this site. I can understand the financial motivation but it puts me off big time. I don't want to be barraged with crap and bullshit, and so I expect I'll gradually opt out.

For the same reason I'm retiring from the part-time medical practice I've been doing for years in public treatment facilities around Australia, since I quit private medical practice back in 2010. That decision to retire has come because of the expanding time consuming hoops I have to jump through under the heading of "Continuing Professional Development" to keep up my registration with AHPRA, all of which are less constructive than the reading I used to spend my time on before the government run "education" system was developed by the bureaucrats.

Presumably, that is a factor in only 14% of medical graduates becoming a GP compared to the 50% it used to be - that and the failure to increase the Medicare rebate with inflation which is making bulk-billing unviable.

Problem is Dickheads who drive now whilst holding a phone won’t put their phones in the glovebox.
It needs some sort of technology or cut off switch so it’s impossible to use the phone for texting whilst driving

Governments would just crumble at the pressure from phone manufacturers and car manufacturers.

i have said since day 1 and even when i was back as a cop, caught driving using your mobile phone it should be an instant 3 month loss of licence, 2nd offence 12 months, 3rd offence life ban from driving

But of course then that cuts out the revenue doesnt it ;)

It’s not a boy, it’s a gender neutral.
