God no - killing sharks makes us no better than the Japs killing whales and the Chinese slaughtering dolphins.

In fact, it makes us even worse because we have NO purpose for killing them.

No for me, too.

What is happening in WA at the moment is very poor.

I also wish crocodiles werent killed either, especially in their natural habitat (where they make their way into townships, could be a different story).

No. Ridiculous situation in WA.

Not many crocs are killed in their natural habitat.

Indeed.

They ought to make a few netted areas on some select Perth beaches. Those who don't want to risk a shark attack can swim there. Might even be cheaper than paying the shark-killer contractor 5 grand a day...

Nets are no good because heaps of other marine life gets caught up in them.

Absolute disgrace. Pulling up a 3 metre Tiger Shark and shooting it in the head 4 times to kill it is as barbaric as it comes.

Think its funny up until recently left over carcasses were dumped in the ocean from slaughter houses. We wonder why Sharks come in so close....

Before we react perhaps we need to find out the proper reason why they come in so close. The rest of Australia has effectively managed this situation so how come the spastics running the show in WA over the last 20 years can't do the same?

Love the WA government's reasoning for this. 7 deaths in 3 years  yep let's get rid of them

Bloody car accidents have the potential to do that inside 3 weeks.....

What about killing Crocs, Snakes, Funnel webs/redbacks?

Is there a difference in killing sharks that come close to popular beaches?

the reason why sharks are killed after killing and consuming a human is to retrieve the body

sharks don't chew on their food, they bite

No, culling sharks is not the answer. Afterall they aren't the deadliest thing in the ocean.
Whats next? Culling of the blue ringed octopus and Box Jellyfish?

Every animal in the ocean serves a purpose, you start culling sharks and you will find another problem will arise due to the change in environment.

there is no suggestion that they are targeting a specific shark that has eaten someone, but they are culling sharks because in their eyes the death rate is too high.

absolutely ridiculous, and the comparison with japan is a good one-
