where you live will depend on what you can afford, if cash flow is not a problem then parkholme, oaklands park, warradale, glengowrie, seacombe gardens, sturt, dover gardens or darlington. If you are looking for up market areas then its glenelg, somerton, hove or brighton,

if you are looking for cheaper areas to rent you will have to be prepared to look further south, eg: morphettvale, 'ackem, huntfield heights etc

Skin allergies - http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/06/070607171120.htm

That information has been around in medical circles for a long time, and I've actually been curious enough to try it on three occasions in the distant past.
(To quote my Angel source "..the good stuff, not the shit we sell.." )

Result: slight drowsiness and nausea, and slightly muddled brain function for a couple of hours.
I decided I'd rather cope with the allergies than feel dumbed down.

Now if someone comes up with an extract that doesn't have the negative effects...

Have a look at Glenelg East, Decent size blokes, lots of tudor style homes and bungalows. Depends what sought of housing style you like. Lots of parks, close to bay oval, and the beach, also in the Brighton High School Zone.

My wife was asthmatic and I am someone prone to milder respiratory allergies.
We were both OK in eastern Melbourne, but neither of us did well anywhere in Adelaide and ultimately sold up and moved to the hills before later going to Melbourne for family reasons.

It was at its worst when we lived in Prospect and later nearly as bad when we tried Delfin Island (West Lakes) on the theory the sea breezes would help.

When I returned to Adelaide in 2009 I considered eastern options like Stonyfell, but after a week staying with friends there, while house-hunting, I decided to buy in the hills again. (It was better there but not better enough.)
The Blackwood area doesn't seem too bad...

I suspect the difference is that Melbourne is a bit more open and windy and the air pollution blows away more whereas Adelaide sits in a bowl.
Even in Melbourne we both had problems when visiting friends who lived in Port Cook.

Funny you mention this Doc. Been an Asthmatic all my life. South Coast of NSW ******. Southern Highlands ******. Sydney the same. Adelaide didnt even need the inhaler anymore and off Ventolin. Off to Ipswich back on the puffers.

Generally, I think the key issue is that, if you are allergy prone, you tend to develop allergic reactions to things you have been exposed to over time, and so you get the same reactions in places that have the same allergens around, and going to a different environment gives you a "holiday" until you have had enough exposure to new allergens to trigger off reactions to them.

In my case my major sensitivity is to hydrocarbon residues - like those ubiquitous "air freshener" blocks which just mask natural odours with a petrochemically-derived artificial scent - and accumulated vehicle exhaust fumes get to me. That is why I do better in Melbourne where the wind disperses them better.

On the other hand repeated exposure to very diluted allergens may help you build up a tolerance for them - the key element in "desensitisation" therapy.
It doesn't work for everyone though.

If you're working in Marion, logic says Marion, Warradale, Oaklands Park, Parkholme, Ascot Park, Mitchell Park etc would suit. All decent suburbs.
Anything with a 5042 or 5043 postcode would be close to work.

Change of plans, wife has been given the job at Royal Park, not familiar with suburbs out that way. Anyone know what are the better ones, keeping in mind we have an 8 year old an 4 year old, an primary schools, cheers.

Ps how long would it take on average from say Warradale to Royal Park in peak hour traffic.

I've lived at Royal Park before, it's alright best primary school? Probably West Lakes Shore.

Royal Park is right near West Lakes i.e. AAMI Stadium, which is a good area.

Royal Park is a great place to live. Close to everything that you need :)

Surrounding suburbs include west lakes, Seaton, Hendon, Albert Park to name just a few. Although it's been 20odd years since I went there, I think that Hendon primary isn't too bad for a public school.
